Abstract

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the amount of cariogenic bacteria, acidity, buffer capacity, blood, leukocyte, protein, and ammonia from the saliva component to determine the possibility of using salivary testing machine.

Methods: The study was conducted on 10 male and female adults. Subjects were treated with herbal medicinal toothpaste for 2 weeks, and then examined with an anterior and postoperative salivary testing machine.

Results: After 2 weeks of use of the toothpaste, the mean value of the results was lower for all indicators except for acidity. White blood cells and protein levels, indicators related to gum health, have improved.

Conclusion: The latest salivary testing machine can be useful for simple and effective evaluation of oral diseases and prediction of risk in difficult-to-cooperate children.
